We’re looking for an ambitious, strategic Head of Finance to lead our finance function and play a key role in shaping the future of Shropshire Towns & Rural Housing (STAR Housing).

This is more than a numbers role. It’s about driving value for money, influencing decision-making at the highest level, and ensuring our 4,000 homes – and the communities within them – continue to thrive.

Why this role?

As a member of our Senior Management Team, you’ll:

• Provide strategic leadership across all finance services
• Act as a trusted advisor to the Board, Corporate Director and Senior Leaders
• Oversee financial management for STAR Housing and Cornovii Developments Ltd
• Champion commercial thinking, efficiency and continuous improvement
• Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing Finance team

What you’ll be doing

• Leading budgets, financial planning and statutory accounts
• Ensuring strong financial governance, probity and compliance
• Driving value for money through procurement and service delivery
• Providing clear, insightful financial advice to support organisational decisions
• Managing audits, risk, business planning and long-term financial strategy

About you

You’ll be a qualified finance professional with strong leadership credentials and experience operating at a senior level. You’ll be confident influencing stakeholders, translating complex financial information into clear advice, and leading teams through change.
